Designer Babies Contd.
Luis, I don’t know anything about genetics to preface but my aunt is a geneticist and I would talk to her about engineered babies and while she doesn’t do work on like, pre-natal screening or anything like that, she said most of it was stupid because it’s extremely difficult to ‘design’ genes. If, for no other reason, then that whenever scientists manipulate one gene they end up finding dozens of other effects they never thought about.
Admittedly the ethical qualms about neo-eugenics are there, but like you suggest a lot of this is ideological pandering since ‘science’ doesn’t work like this.
Correct me if I’m wrong/misreading.
Precisely, there’s a lot more that can be said.
